Installed in March 2024, this heritage panel commemorates Donald Watson, the founder of The Vegan Society and the individual who coined the term ‘vegan’ in 1944. Located near his former residence on Evesham Road, the panel marks Leicester’s significant role in the origins of the modern vegan movement. Watson’s advocacy for a lifestyle free from animal products laid the foundation for veganism as it is known today.​
